Full-Time Position
Position Overview: The Manager, Electrical Systems, ensures the care and upkeep of Terminal 4 by providing passengers and tenants with a safe, comfortable, clean, and efficient Terminal. This role works in a fast-paced but safety-conscious, strategic, and tactical environment, and ensures the efficient operation, maintenance, and improvement of low-voltage and high-voltage switching, distribution, and other critical building systems, contributing to the terminal's safety, reliability, and performance. Additionally, this role will help define the strategic and efficient improvement of Terminal 4’s maintenance programs.
Reports To: The Manager, Electrical Systems will report to the Director, Facilities.
FLSA Status: Exempt
Salary Range: $125,000 - $135,000
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Responsible for overseeing the overall maintenance of Terminal 4 with primary focus on electrical systems including electrical distribution system, electrical meter system, emergency generators, transformers, uninterrupted power supplies, interior and exterior lighting,
• Develop, implement, execute, and monitor preventative maintenance (PM) programs for all high voltage switching and distribution systems.
• Identify, analyze, and implement cost effective resolution for non-routine maintenance problems, including repairs and system upgrades.
• Manage and oversee maintenance contracts related to electrical distribution systems, and as required, building management system (BMS), fire alarm system, fire suppression/sprinkler system, HVAC, water/sewer/plumbing, and any system related to the building’s safe and efficient operation.
• Serve as electrical system subject matter expert within the terminal.
• Prepares request for proposal (RFP) documents for design and service contracts.
• Lead and manage capital improvement projects from initiation through completion, ensuring alignment with operational goals. Evaluate and implement new technologies, innovations, and process improvements to enhance efficiency, cost savings, and overall passenger experience.
• Prepare, monitor and control operational and capital improvement budgets; monitoring expenditures; and preparing financial reports, schedules facility modifications, including estimates on equipment, labor, materials and other related costs.
• Serve as first responder, taking appropriate actions in the event of emergency or critical incidents to resolve, confine and/or prevent potentially injurious or hazardous conditions at Terminal 4.
• Maintain and cultivate professional working relationships with business partners, contractors, and project managers, and acts as a point of contact and guidance regarding their work at Terminal 4.
• Communicate effectively and proactively with leadership and other key internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution and operations.
• Must be available to work during off-shift hours, flexible schedules, and emergency response, including snow events, and other critical situations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training, and Experience
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field and at least 3 years of related experience
• Certified Facility Manager (CFM) certification, Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, and/or Electrical Professional Engineer (PE) License preferred but not required
Special Requirements
• Must be able to pass a criminal background check and obtain and maintain federally mandated security clearances required to work at an airport.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER WORK REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge
• Strong technical knowledge of electrical distribution systems, emergency generator systems, UPS backup, building interior & exterior lighting control, electrical metering, BMS, SCADA
• Basic understanding of fire alarm/life safety system, PLC code/logic, protection control systems, electric vehicle charging
• Knowledge of NYC building and NEC codes
• Experience in facilities maintenance, project management, and contract/ vendor management
Skills
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings
• Advanced computer skills (AutoCAD, MS Windows, MS Office)
